HealthTech
Technology and Healthcare
We believe that technology has great potential to improve the quality of life and independence of older Australians and people with disabilities.
For the user
We know you want to be able to stay at home longer. Staying in an environment you know and are comfortable in helps you to stay healthy, both physically and mentally. It also means you can stay actively involved in your family, community and social groups.
For the carer
Providing care for a loved one can be emotionally rewarding; however, it can also provide additional stress and change the dynamic of your relationship. These stresses can increase if you are overseeing the care of a loved one but are not in their immediate community. You may have had the experience of having to place your loved one in a specialist centre so they can receive the attention they need, but you will still worry – are all of their needs (medical, physical, emotional and social) being met?
For the organisation
Technology to assist you to deliver cost-effective, world class service
Technology can help to improve the quality of life of your clients by helping you to address their emotional, social and physical needs. With a wider appreciation that ‘caring’ for someone means more than just meeting their medical needs, technology has the potential to help you support your client’s emotional, social and physical needs.
