- A comparison of 7 of the latest combined mobile phone/personal digital assistants (P.D.A's) that have recently been released onto the commercial market. - The Good Practice Guide (PDF-153Kb) has been developed by the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association's Accessibility Committee to encourage and assist the industry to enhance and develop the accessibility of products and services to people with disabilities. The aim of the guide is to foster practical suggestions that industry can adopt to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
- A new code and companion guideline was registered by the Australian Communications and Media Authority on 11 October 2006 and will take effect from 11 April 2007. This new Code will require telecommunications equipment suppliers to list some of the accessibility features on their products and to supply a low cost contact point where individuals can seek accessibility information in relation to particular telecommunication products.
A copy of the Code ACIF C625:2005 information on Accessibility Features for Telephone Equipment and the Guideline ACIF G627:2005 Operational Matrices for Reporting on Accessibility Features for Telephone Equipment is available at the Communications Alliance website.
