Background to the Road Show
The 'NovitaTech snowy hydro telecommunications road show' was a national workshop series conducted over a period of 3 weeks in May 2005 that promoted how Australians with physical disabilities can gain access to a home or mobile telephone using existing technology.
The one-day workshops were generously sponsored by snowy hydro Ltd, Australia's largest supplier of renewable energy from the Snowy Mountains Scheme, and Engineers Australia's College of Biomedical Engineers.
The hands-on workshops showcased NovitaTech's on-going research in the area of telecommunications, and featured presentations and hands-on demonstrations of the solutions that were used during a Commonwealth funded trial in 2003. Workshop attendees had ample opportunity to ask questions, trial the equipment, and see for themselves how the technology worked.
The National telecommunications road show was made possible thanks to snowy hydro and engineers Australia.
