Privacy statement
The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Bill 2000 recognises that people have the right to be protective of their personal details and places strict limits on how such information is collected and handled by private sector organisations (such as Novita).
Any recorded information that can identify a person, and which may or may not be sensitive, for example, ethnic background or medical information, is subject to the legislation.
The Crippled Children’s Association of South Australia (Novita) is a non-government charitable organisation whose core business is the provision of physical therapy and family support services to children and young people with physical and multiple disability. NovitaTech is division of Novita and the privacy policy of Novita therefore applies to the NovitaTech website.
In order to carry out its work and to provide assurances of quality the Association needs to gather and maintain information about its clients and customers.

Novita respects the privacy of every individual and organisation that visits this Site or submits a response to any of the online forms or surveys provided. Gathering of information that does not personally identify you
In general, you can visit any part of this Site without telling us who you are, or revealing any information about yourself. However by using our Site you are consenting to the collection and use of certain information that does not identify you personally. The following methods are used and types of information are collected on this Site:
Cookies
Cookies are used in Site to store details of your shopping cart if you are adding products from the Assistive Technology Department. Cookies must be enabled if you wish to purchase from the website. Cookies must also be turned on in your browser to participate as a user in the Novita forums. Cookies are used in the forums to hold your username and password and viewing options, allowing you to login and participate.
If you do not wish to have cookies placed on your computer, you can disable this feature in your browser by following the following instructions:
- If you are using Internet Explorer this can be done by clicking on the Tools menu at the top of your browser, clicking on Internet Options, and clicking on the Settings button in the Temporary Internet Files section. You will be provided with a number of options for how you wish to use cookies.
- If you are using Netscape Navigator, go to the Edit menu located at the top of your browser, click on Preferences, then select Privacy and Security and finally select Cookies. You will be provided with a number of options for how you wish to use cookies
Clickstream data collection
This is data that is collected as the site visitor moves around within our site. The following information is recorded:
- Date - which day the log was recorded
- Time - the time the log was recorded
- Client IP address - the unique identifier for the user's computer accessing the internet.
- URI stem - The webpage requested by the user eg http://www.cca.org.au/content.asp
- URI query - The query string requested along with the URI stem eg ?p=230
- http status - A 3 digit code reporting on whether the requested page was succesfully served to the user
- Bytes sent - The amount of data sent to a user who requested the webpage
- User agent - The browser used by the user to access the webpage
- Referrer - The page from which the user accessed the current page.
This information is used for generating traffic reports to allow Novita to analyse where people are going in the Site and for how long they are using it. The information is only viewed by selected staff within Novita and provides an understanding of which areas are most popular, so that the Site can continually be improved in line with what Site visitors want. Novita ensure s that the IP address of Site visitors is not used to identify any particular individual.
Personal information collection
In some circumstances we may ask you to voluntarily provide us with certain personal information. We may use this personally identifiable information to contact you. However, we will not publish, give, trade or sell your personally identifiable information to anyone else without your permission. We will record your email address if you send us an email message. However your email address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to any other mailing list without your consent, nor will it be passed on to any third parties.
If you have submitted information that personally identifies you to Novita through the Site and would like that information to be deleted from our records, please contact us. On receiving your request, we will remove the information and let you know when this has been done.
Personal information is obtained by NovitaTech when you complete and submit on-line forms, such as:
- Product trial form
- Product order form
- Online enquiries
Such information is stored securely and is accessible only to Novita website administrators. Information is stored to allow Novita to return requested information and to offer feedback. Information with regard to purchases (for example, Product orders) is stored to allow receipts to be provided.
Credit card transactions
This Site uses a 128bit secure socket layer (Verisign) hosted by Novita's web services partner, Fusion Design Consultants. Credit card information is never stored by Novita
Web site security
Visitors using our Site should be aware that the Internet is not a secure network and there is always a potential risk that your transactions can be viewed or intercepted. However Novita has put in place SSL/128-bit encryption via a secure server for those sections of the Site where credit card information is provided for making orders of goods or services to ensure that such information is delivered safely.
Every endeavour is made to ensure that downloadable files are free from computer viruses or defects. The safest files to download are plain text (.TXT). Where users choose to download files from this Site or one of the sub-sites, they are responsible for taking the necessary precautions to check for viruses or corrupted files. Novita accepts no liability for any damages incurred to a user's computer system, data or software in connection with this Site.
